Corrosion Prevention

Advice on subsea corrosion prevention of steel components by using cathodic protection and coatings has been provided to an offshore engineering company. The correct design of cathodic protection is critical in order to ensure that it is fully effective and also to ensure that it does not cause material problems. Unfortunately over the past twenty years there have been a number of cases where the cathodic protection system has contributed to material failures. Hence it is critical that it is designed correctly to standards such as DNV RPB401. We have extensive experience working with this standard and we have successfully designed a number of subsea protection systems.
